Shop list, categories and product images load faster
The shop list and category pages respond more than twice as fast, and product images now come in the modern AVIF image format.
The problem
For the shop list and every category page, the server put the articles together from the entire catalogue on every request. That took around 350 milliseconds before the page even began to load. Older product images were delivered as JPEG, often much larger than necessary.
The solution
The selection is now kept ready for five minutes at a time, and the server responds in around 130 milliseconds. The selection under “Browse” is still shuffled anew on every visit, and prices and availability are always up to date. A new article appears in the list within five minutes at the latest. The shop now delivers product images as AVIF if the browser supports it; thumbnails thus need only about a fifth of the data on average. Search engines, price comparison sites and feeds continue to receive JPEG.

Why does my new article not appear in the shop list immediately?
