Shops load the hero image and banners faster on mobile
Phones and tablets now get the shops' hero image and banners in a separate, smaller version – with no visible loss of quality.
The problem
On mobile, the shops loaded the hero image in the version for large screens, often several hundred kilobytes in size. At the same time, the page was already requesting the product images further down, which took bandwidth away from the visible image.
The solution
Phones and tablets now have their own versions of the hero image and banners, on average about a third of the previous data volume. The visible image loads first, the product images below it afterwards. On a computer, everything stays as before. You do not need to do anything: for new images, these versions are created automatically on upload.
In brief
Do I have to resize my images for mobile myself?
